Well I would imagen that it would increase the life of your system if it was under 45 (around 110) degs, but the way most people change processors you dont plan on having the same one working perfectly for 10 years so you should be fine anyway. My P4 is running at a almost constant 47-49 because of all my HDDs, I could care less.
I would take a look at the bios and try and change that setting to 55 (130) or 60 (140) those are the temps I would start to get worried about and if you have half decent case cooling you should never reach those levels anyway.
I agree that 110degs is just FAR too low for a shutdown temp.
