OK, I'm not going to allow the use of "Phantom Footmen"
to probe areas before hand.
This will upset the challenge & balance of the game,
by allowing the characters to get away with letting something else do the job.
Figure out other ways to check for traps,
and searching rooms.
Thieving skills, definitely.
Scrying, maybe.
Telekinesis, maybe.
Phantom Footmen, no.
The only thing I might allow Phantom Footmen to do is
carry items, and open unlocked doors.
