I had legos as a kid, and I really liked them. Not so much making the premade designs, that was usually nice to look at but not much fun. What was actually fun was making whatever the hell I wanted to with them. I think that, compared with most of the other toys available, any child would benefit far more from playing with legos. I suspect that doing so encourages creativity and imagination.
