I would still have voted for death. I feel bad for the kid, but he was, by the testimony, capable of making the right choice, and instead chose to brutally murder someone. Someone he knew, no less. I tire of the "Oh he had a bad childhood" defense. It doesn't excuse this type of act. People are accountable for what they do, regardless of their background.
