Just a note: when you think about it, it is a little weird that putting someone to death should cost more than keeping them fed, clothed and sheltered (admittedly not in the best style) for the rest of their natural life. Given that a good portion of people for whom this is the case are between 20 and 40, that leaves an average of probably 35 years that they would be kept in prison, which I find incredible should cost less than the appeals process involved in execution.
