Clavus: Well, Quebecers didn't try to separate until the 80s (first referendum spearheaded by René Lévesque), but the rest of your friend's history lesson is spot on, aside from our supposed desire to hold a referendum again. Take it from a French-Canadian, it's a tired issue and it won't happen.
