Suggested Reading or Watching for our Philosophers, where people make general recommendations for philosophical books. Here I propose that people could ask for a book on a specific topic, and have people make recommendations.
Personally I am looking to read a book about human consciousness. As you may have noticed from reading my other posts on this board, I am above all a rationalist, so I am not interested in reading a book involving pseudoscience, mysticism or other "magical" examinations.
That being said, I'm not looking for a book on neurology either! Preferably the book should take into account modern science, including (the non-deterministic) quantum physics.
On a related note, I am also interested in a general introduction to psychology. Nothing too heavy. Again it should be firmly grounded in reality. I have read a little on Freud's theory of dreams, and found it very speculative, and not really based on any kind of evidence.
So if anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear from you. Or if you are looking for a book on a particular topic, post your request here!
