Tweak your VM to no less than 150% of your actual RAM. Turn off all the eye candy of XP. Disable services according to the guide found here. Use caution when disabling services... Make sure you have a decent idea of what you're doing. Get RegScrubXP and clear out all the shit from the registry. The automation of that program is awesome. Outside of that... Get XP Pro.
