When people say spit or swallow I always thought it was an expression. Swallow meaning the fishies get swallowed. Spit meaning they finish you off by hand. I have never heard of a girl that actually spit it out after it was in her mouth unless it was a "OOPS".

edit: Most of you are lucky. Mrs. Kata doesn't even like touching my fishies. Of course, that is unless I am drawing a map of hawaii on her back or stomach....she doesn't complain about that.
