I had mine taken out just before I got out of the Air Force. They were after them for 8 years, then I decided to go ahead and let them remove them while I was still on Uncle Sam's dime. I was in the Security Police. As such, for the eight years I was active duty I could never get any drugs prescribed to me stronger than aspirin, due to being armed, and all that. They more than made up for that when pulled my wisdom teeth. I was so doped up...I had a blast the whole time. I barely knew where I was, but I was sure having a good time. They did an excellent job. Within two days I was eating pizza and polish sausage.
Like rogue49 already stated, keep those sockets cleaned out and irrigated with the little syringe gizmo they gave you. Failure to do so is the surest way there is to get an infection there, and that sucks. Just ask my ex-wife. She got lazy, didn't keep her sockets cleaned out, got an infection and was in some pretty severe pain for about a week. She was in even more pain when the dentist had to go in and clean them out for her. Keep 'em clean.
