The backlash against the Dixie Chicks is simply what they asked for. If you can't stand other peoples opinion- don't expect them to put up with yours. Liberals, in this case, expect people to understand Natalie Maines' opinion and respect her right to give it, but are
intolerant of any opposition to that opinion and show little respect for other people's right to disagree with her. (I'm personally surprised that they haven't resorted to calling people who didn't like Ms Maines' statement "Fascists" and holding a candlelight vigil in Nashville for her.)
