I use MS Word for essays and the like, and the only reason I use MS Office is because my school work requires PowerPoint and Access. My professors are very picky about my presentations being PPT files. Argh. Otherwise I might look into switching to something else...
For work and programming I use vim. Sometimes I use pico but my friends make fun of me for that.
