If you remember when you installed it, I think you had to edit a config/reg file from one thing to another. (sorry, I installed and uninstalled litestep about 3-4 years ago)
While litestep is loaded, attempt to create an error of some sort so that the "open" dialogue box is popped up. This should be in the regular explorer type box that you get when you are opening a file of some sort. Navigate to the file that was configured when it was loaded, and re-edit the string to its previous value. Its something like changing it from "DefaultLoad=litestep.exe" to "DefaultLoad=explorer.exe" (again, sorry, its been 3-4 years)
Luckily, I was able to revert back to the regular explorer interface for Windows.
