I used to play 40k, but haven't recently.
Like panzer and hulk said, however, GW has become a company more and more focused on money rather than the desires of the gaming public they provide for. I don't know if any of this has been rectified since I stopped playing, but with the release of the new Codicies (most notably Chaos), everything else is subpar. GW's unofficial word is that they'll be updating all the codices to be that level, a process that WILL take years and cost gamers tons of money.
It's also kinda obvious when the price of a single 3" figure in a blister jumps from 3.49 to 7.something, equivalent to the former price of like 3 standard troops in a blister.
