I too have been a tester since Beta 2...and boy, am I disappointed.
Even as an insanely hardcore Star Wars nerd, I found it impossible to keep an interest in the game... it's boring, even by mmo standards. I mean, it just seems like EQ in space - but without the captivating stuff EQ had.
The graphics are great for an mmo and the crafting system seems to be pretty nice (I've never been much for crafting though, so my opinion is limited to what little I have done in the past). Even with some of the little touches (everything from notable NPCs to monuments and such) it still does not feel like Star Wars, though.
Combat is lackluster, even more so than the standard "autoattack" systems of today. The special attacks lack even the flair and reactiveness of DAoC's combat styles. The fact that 99% of the camps are randomly generated also is a huge irritant to me - if SoE is gonna make me run across long stretches of land, they'd better freaking allow me to memorize mob camps so I can autorun around them while I get a soda / write a 50 page long paper...because I can tell you, for some of the mission's you'll get you WILL have time to do the latter. Running across the Juntland Wastes was really neat the first time, for the first 5 minutes...but after that, it steadily dropped in appeal - especially after some womp rats ganged up on me and killed me, stranding my body in the middle of nowhere.
That being said, I am definitely going to wait a few months to see what some of my friends in current mmorpgs say about the evolution of the game before I even consider buying it. There's obviously a ton of stuff I could say about the game, but these are just the things that popped to the top. I'm just gonna hold out for EQ2 and WoW, even though I am kind of disappointed in the current revalation that pvp will be a small part of the latter.
My recommendation to all of you is to wait - be it a month or 6 months. See what gets fixed, what gets changed and what gets completely ignored. I have no doubts that the game is quality (I mean, I am impressed with some of the content and depth of some features), but being a quality game does not increase how enjoyable playing it is.
