I once heard they get pink from the shrimp they eat out in the sea, dunno if it was a fisherman's tale, but it explains why the farmed stuff ain't pink.

Also another fisherman said they taste better wild cause of the stress they go thru whilst swimming to spawn.

Seems to me fishermen have an answer for everything .
