Congo, have you ever done a MMO beta? Not to be insulting, so don't take me wrong please. Typically they start with small beta groups, gradually growing largely. Often the final phase is completely open to anyone (Examples: Anarchy Online, PlanetSide, etc), used for stress-testing as well as sheer numbers of people out there who might find bugs. SW:G skipped their final beta phase entirely to do a "Limited release"... nifty way of saying the few who get the game will be paying for the "final" beta phase.
I'm gonna back up all the claims - It's boring. There's little interaction. Looks pretty, plays bad. If you're a StarWars fan, the game quite possibly will put you in tears. If you're looking for a SciFi MMO I heartily suggest Anarchy Online, that game has come a long, long, long ways from it's initial release. As for SW:G.... No Jedis -at all- upon release, not just that it'll take you a long time to open up the option. Single-character-servers take a lot of the fun out for people like me who enjoy playing more than one character type. The lack of vehicles with the ungodly travel time is really not a smooth move. Forced downtime and complexity to a game is not a good thing. Making classes that weren't attractive to players because they weren't considered a lot of fun crucial to gameplay by forced interaction rather than making the classes enjoyable is a bad, bad idea. The game's not finished, and it's not fun.
Congo to address one last thing: If the game's not fun with a low population, it most likely won't be fun with a high population either. If the Beta testers don't like the game (And I'd be willing to say the majority don't) because of the gameplay and not the bugs that will happen in beta, then something is very wrong.
So much potential... so much wasted. I so much wanted to like SW:G and enjoy it, but I couldn't. Guess I'll just stick to EQ for my MMO fix till something better finally comes along.
