I used to play a lot of Warhammer 40K and a few other GW games. They were fun, but lately the company is all about the money and not about the games. The rules seem to get periodically unbalanced, and they are always foisting more must by items out. And you can't compete at cons without the latest set (or so I am told), so it became too much of a money sink.
I did love painting them, however!
