Here's a statement even I can agree with!

I should state, for the record, that I tend toward the liberal side of policy debates, primarily because I feel that I cannot trust corporations to do right by the people, whereas the government can be induced to at least try. HOWEVER, saying "I'd rather have the government {help the poor | run the public schools | administer the land-grant universities | etc. } is not the same as saying "I like the current state of inefficiency and graft in the government", which is a sentiment often attributed to the liberal position.

So, I say 'hear, hear!' By all means cut government where it is obviously wasteful; if I'm going to pay taxes I can at least ask that they be spent wisely!
