Yes, it certainly was, however, it is factual in this case. Perhaps the Democratic parties' tendency to take the minority vote for granted is a more complex concept you may ponder.
In response to the loss of her seat, Cynthia Mckinney stated in an article contained in the Los Angeles times (11-7-02):
"While the national pundits postulate on the reasons why minority voters didn't turn out, minority voters themselves know the truth," she said. "For generations, the Democratic Party has taken the minority vote for granted."
Further, her defamatory remarks regarding the US Administration after the Twin Towers horror and her blatant sycophancy contained in her pandering letter to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal simply left a bad taste in many American mouths, thereby, disenchanting her supporters and rallying her critics.
I grant you that politics is a dirty game, and certainly this is a case where there is cause to believe she may have been "screwed", however, I offer these facts as to why she lost her congressional seat.
Again, she absolutely played a HUGE role in her own demise.
