I guess that the only way we could truly figure out whether it would be masturbation or homosexuality would be to decide how we are going to determine identity. Is identity determined by the genes, chemical make-up and physical traits or is it determined by our minds, souls and thoughts.
One test that could be used to determine which identity we're using would be to ask what would this question: A man and a woman are able to trade bodies for a day and they proceed to have sex with each other in the different bodies. Would that sex be considered heterosexual because two bodies of the opposite sex are partaking in sex, homosexual because the actual identities of the individuals retain their sexuality and thus are having sex with a member of the same sex or simply masturbation because their minds are pleasing their bodies?
