That seems a somwhat simple conclusion.
*IF* it is true that there was a smear campaign against her because she tried to find out the truth abour governmental abuse *THEN* it is an injustice that she lose her seat because of lies against her.
Or is it okay for a paper to make up the claim "Senator Smith admits to abusing underage boys" and then for Senator Smith to be lose their seat because of a completely made up quote?
Will her replacement be better qualified?
I think it is great that she asks tough questions about electoral abuse, funding scandals and September 11th. That is what politicians are paid to do. That is their job.
I get very annoyed with the way that the BBC/Guardian/Times etc. will run a story on governmental abuse in America and when I talk to people on TFP or read the American broadsheets I can find not a trace of it. It is no wonder that 1/3 of Americans think that we have found WMD in Iraq. The press lets them, even encourages them to think this. Where is US investigative journalism?
