I agree with your statement; however, I find that Burton has such a connection with the original material of whatever he does that at least the movie would be seen in a different way. Road Dahl is such a dark storyteller that I would hate to see the original movie trashed but I would love to see Burton's interpretation.
As far as Planet of the Apes remake goes the ending was true to the original story. Casting Wahlburg in the lead may have been the down, fall in my opinion.
Never saw the original Oceans 11 but I enjoyed the remake. What sucks is they are talking about making Ocean's 12. Stupid stupid stupid.
