for those interested, this is also the home of the Norfolk Island Pine (obviously), which looks like this...

When the British decided to send their criminals to Australia, the very worst murderers and such were sent to Norfolk. When the island became too harsh for even these hardened convicts and soldiers, they were moved to the infamous Port Arthur in Tasmania.
