That is classic NY. That reminds me of the comedian who used to do a routine about New Yorkers. One of the lines was "Ever seen a New Yorker give mouth to mouth ressucitation?"
Then he looks down at the floor, and in his best Brooklyn accents shouts: "GET UP, BEFORE YOU FUCKIN' DIE!"
