Here's some food for thought (heheh, see what I did with the pun thing, there... food for thought... heh):
1) Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop funded his Shape Up America campaign with more than $2 million from Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. (I.e., all that "obesity scare" stuff you hear on the news that supposedly comes from government sources is actually funded by the weight loss industry.)
2) Weight Watchers spends more than $30 million each year on advertising. Jenny Craig spends $20 million.
3) The only reason Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig, et al) is a successful business model is because they have repeat customers. In other words, you lose the weight, but you'll be back. ...How else are they supposed to make their money?
