I had a few friends with cancer. They were dealing with it responsibiley - seeing doctors and making good choices based on their recommendations. However, in coming to terms with the spread of possibilities and implications, biasses and swings between optimism and pessimism were extreme. Your commiting to stay in her corner, no matter what, at the same time as consulting with people as you're working out how best to do the right things, means she's fortunate to know you.
