Perhaps I made my point a little faecitiously (sic?)
When AMERICANS/CANADIANS say "Asian" they mean "East Asian"
If an Englishman says Asian he almost certainly means Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani.
If you ask a Turkish guy if he's Asian... well, it will go one way or the other.
I guess I was trying to point out, perhaps clumsily, that sometimes people use terminology as it was universal when in fact it is quite specific to their own culture.

When people say "Asian," they often mean, "East Asian" as opposed to "South Asian" or "Southeast Asian" (or northern, western, and central Asian for that matter).
It's a problem of the word usage. I wouldn't suggest it's a matter of racism or a lack of geography/cultural knowledge.
The word oriental is out of favour for political/historical reasons.
As an aside, have you heard what they say about those Kazakh girls?

Here would be one of my picks: Aarti Mann - IMDb
