Mathematicians accept axioms (self evident truths) and use logic to prove theorems. Illustration can be found in any elementary geometry textbook. To validate means to prove.

I agree. But my personal preference would be to replace "proven" and "proved" by "accepted." Why? Because I use the term "proof" in mathematics only. But I know that others use it in other situations (legal, scientific, theological, etc.).

Yes again, provided the word "religion" is replaced by the word "God." Why? Because, as I already wrote, religion = theism + many other things. A church, or a holy book, are components of "parts of reality of religion." No one question their material existence.
But you are right, "science cannot tell us anything about the material reality of" God.
