During a kung fu lesson, it involved a strike to the groin, and someone asked if that would work on a women? Our instructor (sifu) said it would, since it's a sensitive area, and we believed him. Although I haven't had to attack someone since grade school, a quick kick to the shins stings to where my "friend" almost cried, and you're less likely to be accused of fighting dirty
