I did not vote because my option is not there. I do think that committed homosexuals should have the option to have the legal benefits (and consequences) of marriage. I think that the same should apply to any group of two or slightly more people who choose to have that kind of relationship. However, I have a real problem calling it marriage. I actually don't think that the government ought to be the business of recognizing marriage anyway. To me, marriage is a sacrament and a cultural and religious institution. There should be a seperate but corresponding legal relationship for the puposes of taxes and financial dealings and next-of-kin type issues that is purely contractual.
I may be a lone wolf on this one.
