Well, If they don't fill some need, why did you get them?
What I'm saying is that there is no
physical need or reason for piercing. Piercing is not necessary for good physical health. It's not like an appendectomy or a heart bypass.
Cosmetic piercing is more akin to a nose job or surgical breast enhancement.
So piercing must satisfy or express some emotional need. What does getting pierced express?
You (or I, for that matter) can certainly have emotional needs without being "broken." More likely to be broken from unsatisfied needs, eh?
Don't we all need (or at least want) to feel loved, secure, capable, etc.?
Or to be part of the crowd, or not part of the crowd. Or to be "out there" on the bleeding edge? Or to be safe and away far behind the leaders? Everyone has emotional needs, although not the SAME emotional needs.
If piercing doesn't satisfy some physical or emotional need, what IS the payoff?
The "to each according to his needs..." was just a play on the Marxist mantra "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!"
