March 8th: 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day
Today marks the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day.
Originally developed as a socialist event known as “International
Working Women’s Day”, today IWD honors and celebrates the
achievements of women and it is celebrated throughout the world.
In recognition of IWD, Google’s Doodle has been changed for the day.
The United Nation’s theme for this year’s IWD is:
Quote:
Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.
