I'd say it dies down as I get older. One thing I have a hard time doing is thinking about one thing at a time. I typically think about five or ten or however many things at once which makes it hard for people to keep up in conversation. And sometimes I think about the equipment at the plant I work at actually being rocket ships. Today I was interviewing a guy for a position I have open and couldn't help but think about when I was going to eat next, what I had for lunch, the report I have to present tomorrow, the meeting I went to last week, the car that needs an oil change, fucking, food again, oh shit hope I look like i'm paying attention, better write something down, btw that equipment really does look like a rocket ship. Nothing as exciting as what's happening in your head, but still very busy.
Earlier in the day someone came in to talk to me, and she was in mid-sentence and I come out with, "damn I need a rug!" Had literally nothing to do with what we were talking about and I have no idea why I needed to interrupt her with this random inane bit.
Sometimes I'll sit and make things up for people just so they can be entertained, like making up the origin of a particular item or telling life stories that never happened to me with enough detail and conviction to pull it off.
I'd like to do some sort of free-association thing with you, seems like it'd be really fun to hear your thoughts. You should try stream-of-consciousness writing and see where it takes you.
