That's not a slippery slope to tyranny, but rather 'the state' stepping in and getting experts to make determinations parents aren't qualified to make. I don't see anywhere in the article that the mother is a trained psychologist or psychiatrist, and I don't see any examples of the state overstepping it's authority.
