Along the procrastinating theme, I'm pretty bad, too. So I've thought about getting a nice little Norfolk pine since they look appropriate for Christmas, they're cute, and I have decent luck growing them. Then I can put a couple decorations on it for Christmas and just leave it there forever. Sometimes the perfect procrastination requires advanced planning. Maybe I'll do this next year.
