I may be forgetting what this is called, but re-examining your sentence structure, do you, too, think this could be terme a misplaced modifier (or is it a nebulous pronoun)?

When you stated 'he was less than 2 inches long' ... yhkwt, nvrmnd. I'm making too much of an issue in which you referred to the fishy as well as your son, both, as the 'He'.
