I traded "up" from a D40 to the 3100...all I can say is I LOVE it.
Just like the D40 it feels right in my hand, and is very easy to use.
I don't do video so I have no idea about that.
If you "shop around" you can find USA models for about $625.
( I like "stuff" that doesn't require you to RTFM)
