It's the nature of conflict. We're bound by our evolutionary nature, and conflict's a very important part of that. War is an extension of who's going to get the biggest and best piece of the brontosaurus burger and who's going to get to knock Wilma over the head and take her back to the cave. War can be justified on a moral basis, but that's almost always retrospective.
