There is, rb, but it's not as easily defined or permitted, I don't think.

With production, you produce a product which is then sold.

With service, you are the product, as it were.

Autonomy within a service in many cases would mean inconsistency with the "product."

At least with production, you can set a standard for the end result. With service, much of what you do is the end result. Not always, but I imagine that's what makes it more difficult.
