I used cheap Maxwell House ground coffee. I normally don't find that kind of coffee palatable, but it's actually pretty good with this cold press method. I put the grounds in a coffee press with filtered water, left it at room temperature for 8 hours, pushed down the filtering plate and voila - coffee. The resulting liquid was smooth. There wasn't anything harsh or acidic about the flavor, but it also didn't have too much character. I'm sure it would be even better with decent beans.
