It wasn't supposed to never be changed or amended. It was -supposed- to be left alone until a -big- important change needed making...and then a process for making that change was provided. It's called the Amendment process, and it's difficult, expensive, and time-consuming
for a damned good reason. The Constitution is a contract between the Government and its' Constituents, and no half-decent employment contract allows the Employee (the Gov't, who badly needs to be reminded of this) to continually make changes to the terms of employment while giving The Boss (that'd be us, the American people) the finger and demanding the right to go through the till at any given moment.
