The first album I bought with my own cash was a compilation on cassette tape that went a lil' sumpin' like this:
Rap Traxx (1988)
I bought it for the tracks "Wild Thing" by Tone Loc and "Fight for Your Right" by the Beastie Boys, but what I got was a pure goldmine of late '80s rap.
However, the first album I technically owned was the Cabbage Patch Kids' Cabbage Patch Dreams (1983) on LP.
