That's an interesting thought, regardless, the idea that Beck is just playing a role as a career, to make money. It reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut's
Mother Night, a novel about propaganda and performance, within which Vonnegut wrote in the Introduction, "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."
