Not all of the songs used in the TV medley are originals. Off the top of my head, Love and Marriage (yes, that one) is an old Frank Sinatra tune that was written as a satire of, well, love and marriage, while God Only Knows is a Beach Boys tune that predates that show that it's on (the Mormon one, yeah?)
I actually enjoyed the second one more, possibly because I don't watch that much television myself and so some of the references were a bit beyond me. Even so, I liked some of the interpretations in the 8 minute medley and thought they could be fleshed out into some decent covers with a bit of work. I'd imagine he's already done that, but it'd be fun to hear the results.
