I see too many of them every day. I don't give them anything. I do talk to them as individuals from time to time. They are invisible to most people as they walk past to wherever they are going oblivious to these in need.

There are many social programs to assist people here in NYC. Three of them are within 1 mile of my home.
I'm not sure what it's like for social programs in suburban areas, but in the urban setting, there's lots of non-government organizations helping people every day.
