Terribly sad to report that Harvey Pekar passed away yesterday afternoon at the age of 70. While certainly not an A-list celebrity (although he deserved to be) I'm sure many will remember his fine comic books, the Hollywood movie and the many other projects Harvey found himself involved with (I especially enjoyed his jazz reviews, they were great reading while studying music in college, he had such a passion for writing and thinking about music)
I could sit here and try to write something fitting for the man, but my words certainly wont do his life or work justice so I'll just say we lost one of the good ones, a working class hero and cultural icon. He will be missed.
RIP Harvey
I was poking around youtube and thought I'd share a few things I dug up, just because Harvey was awesome and some might not be familiar with him.
Just a great clip from the American Splendor movie
The REAL Harvey doing his thing on Letterman
A great interview in his later years
