I don't know what the problem with your dishwasher is. I had a similar problem with ours recently and after reading many appliance websites found out that this is a typical problem with many dishwashers. The usual problem seems to be either a blocked line or failed pump.

One tip I learned to keep you going until you fix or replace it is to restart the wash cycle after it is finished then stop it after a few seconds. The wash cycle should reset and stop and pump out the sump each time. I ran ours for a month this way until buying a new one.
