Yeah, as others have said, you need to be absolutely, 100% sure you don't want to produce any (more) children. Absolutely sure. As in, imagine you meet the woman of your dreams, but having kids is a requirement for her...My recollection for the procedure I had done was about 80% chance of a successful reversal after 1 year, dropping to very little chance of successful reversal at 5+ years out.
I got mine done. It was...interesting. Highly uncomfortable. They anesthetize, of course, but the tubes are attached to various places in your abdomen, which they can't completely block. So be prepared for the feeling of being very gently kicked in the scrotum for about 30 minutes during the procedure, and some discomfort afterwards. Not too bad, though. Compared to, you know, giving birth, or paying child support. :-)
For a year or so afterwards I would have some discomfort in the testicular area at times, but that seems to have faded. Other than that...absolutely glad I had it done. We already have four kids, and if we really want more down the road, we'll adopt.
OTOH, my wife did have some regrets afterwards, but mostly just the desire to have *babies*, not more kids, if you get the idea.
