Telekinetic's arguments to me seemed more to address the perspective from a first person scenario, which is more persusasive to me, while Willravel's arguments were from the perspective of society in general I thought. For example, even though the likelihood of encountering a situation where lethal force is necessary is extremely small for most of us, as long as it's possible to happen to me then I feel the benefits of owning a firearm outweigh the risks, as they pertain to me as an individual. However, when looked at from society as a whole, I can agree that most people are probably better off without a firearm, as again the likelihood of needing to use lethal force is extremely small.
IMHO.
In any case, the debate was a great read and I look forward to the next one.
